POLITICAL FORUM

Political Forum by the Central Hillsborough County Chamber of Commerce

The Central Hillsborough County Chamber of Commerce proudly hosts the Political Forum, an engaging event designed to provide the community with the opportunity to hear directly from candidates running for local and state elections. This informative forum allows candidates to present their platforms, engage with voters, and participate in a moderated Q&A session. A midway preceding the forum allows for personal interactions, and a straw poll conducted by the local supervisor of elections will capture audience sentiment.
Event Highlights

Candidate Midway
Informational Tables: From 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, each candidate will have a designated table in the midway area. Candidates and their campaign teams will distribute literature, answer questions, and engage with attendees in a more personal setting.
Networking Opportunity: This midway session allows voters to meet candidates face-to-face, learn about their platforms, and discuss issues that matter most to them. Refreshments will be available, fostering a relaxed and convivial atmosphere.

Main Forum
Welcome and Introduction: At 6:30 PM, the event will formally begin with a welcome address from the Chamber President, who will outline the format and objectives of the forum.
Moderator: A respected local journalist or community leader will serve as the moderator, ensuring the event runs smoothly and fairly. The moderator will introduce each candidate and facilitate the Q&A session.

Candidate Presentations
Platform Presentations: Each candidate will have a set amount of time (typically 5-7 minutes) to present their platform and key policy positions. This segment allows candidates to articulate their visions and goals clearly.
Order of Presentations: The order of candidate presentations will be determined by a random draw to ensure fairness.

Moderated Q&A Session
Audience Questions: Following the presentations, the moderator will open the floor to questions from the audience. Attendees can submit their questions in advance or during the midway session. Questions will be vetted by the moderator to ensure they are relevant and respectful.
Interactive Dialogue: This session provides a dynamic and interactive opportunity for candidates to address specific concerns and engage directly with voters.

Straw Poll
Supervisor of Elections: Throughout the event, the local supervisor of elections will conduct a straw poll. Attendees will have the chance to cast their unofficial votes for their preferred candidates.
Results Announcement: The results of the straw poll will be announced at the end of the forum, providing an early indicator of community sentiment and engagement.

Sponsors: Local businesses and organizations can sponsor the Political Forum, gaining visibility and demonstrating support for civic engagement. Sponsorship packages include branding opportunities and reserved seating.

Community Engagement
Voter Education: The Chamber of Commerce will provide educational materials on the voting process, important election dates, and how to stay informed about the candidates and issues.

Join us for an evening of civic engagement and informed discussion at the Political Forum. This event is an invaluable opportunity for voters to hear directly from their candidates, ask pertinent questions, and participate in the democratic process. We look forward to seeing you there and making your voice heard!
